Figure sketches to study movement and proportion from a video I filmed.
Exploration of different art styles, referencing both Japanese and American Animation. The purpose of this was to reassure myself that I can do other styles  and explore the different styles.
Observational studies using alcohol marks. The purpose of this was to study tone and how that created the illusion of form.
More observational studies using alcohol marks. The purpose of this was to study tone and how that created the illusion of form.
Sketches of a Character design I created. I gave myself only 5 minutes to help get quicker whilst keeping a good standard.
Observational studies from life using my sister as a reference. I did this to improve my technical skills.
Observational studies from life using my shoes as a reference. I did this to improve my hand eye coordination.
Observational studies from life using my brother as a reference. I did this to improve my technical skills.
Observational studies from photos I have taken. These were done with different techniques to help explore the different styles.

A more refined drawing studying form and tone. I spent more time on this as I wanted one which would be used as a final piece.
This is a Kickflip animation. I used a reference that I filmed, converted it to 12 fps and then drew out every frame in photoshop. I then used the onion skin to make sure positioning and sizing of the frames were correct, relative to each other. Then, I added the colour. I didn't make everything refined and perfect since the purpose of this was to study movement.

I generated character designs then developed them in illustrator to create a more refined idea. These were sketched from photos I took at concerts; I referenced the poses from these. I added artistic expression by simplifying the figure to create a more illustrative drawing with more character as shown through the disproportion.
I studied an artist called Philip Tyler. I created a transcription from one of his paintings to understand his general style. I then created paintings from my own references whilst referencing the brush work, mood and colours from Tyler. I created a final A1 Painting from my photograph whilst also using the subject matter in real life to create a successful painting.
In these, I'm exploring the figure in different media whilst also learning how to portray the figure. I created transcriptions from Mark Tennant to understand the techniques he uses to create a successful figurative painting. After, I did observational studies of the subject matter I wanted to paint. I realised that one of my drawings were disproportional so I did an oil painting using the same reference whilst being aware to not make the same mistake, which was the head being too large.
I explored a variety of styles with portraiture. Each of these are done in a different media as I wanted to become proficient in each. This has made me realise that my watercolour work is the weakest in comparison to the other paintings and so I am working on improving my watercolour technique. I've used graphite, biro, oil in both a realistic and expressive style, acrylic, watercolour and Photoshop.
In collaboration with designer Defaced, I helped create this storyboard. I helped compose the storyboard with the order of the animation whilst he illustrated and created the assets for the animation.

I used the assets created by Defaced and developed this infomercial, using After Effects to rig the illustrations and animate them. For the the motion design elements I just added in elements to fit with the voice over we had been provided.
Illustration was done by Defaced. I rigged the elements in After Effects and animated them to create a loop and a interesting animation. This is an Offline Screen for a Twitch Streamer.
Illustration was done by Defaced. I took the Illustrator file and separated all the elements and animated them in After Effects. I used references to create organic movement and a smooth animation.
These are various character designs I have created. I did these when I was learning more illustrative digital art. Inspiration is taken from Japanese animation and American cartoons.
